Cape Green Trade Day
Two Cape Green Trade Days are held during each year, they coincide with Spring and Autumn. These days allow suppliers to the nursery industry the opportunity to promote their products and services directly to their customers. Visitors include retailers, growers, landscapers, landscape architects, estate managers, municipalities and other allied businesses. They spend the day browsing, collecting information and placing orders with the various exhibitors. Exhibitors are able see all their clients and meet potential new customers in one day, it runs from 09h00 – 15h00.
Stands are available in various sizes costing from a table at R900 to 25m2 at R10 000. Members receive a 25% discount on their stands.
At present we have a wonderful venue, Sun Exhibits at GrandWest. It is big, light and offers many extra features – centrality, parking, assistance, security, etc. We have an average of 65 exhibitors and over 400 visitors during the day.
Sadly, 2020 and 2021 Cape Green Trade Days had to be cancelled due to Covid-19, BUT in 2022 we held 2 very successful Cape Green Trade Days at Sun Exhibits. Both were upbeat, positive and really busy with lots of new exhibitors and faces, last year both Cape Green Trade Day had record attendance.
The September 2024 stand winners were:
1st Plant – Arboreta Nurseries / 1st Allied – Eklipse
2nd Plant – De Fynne / 2nd Allied – Kirchhoffs
3rd Plant – Veld & Fynbos / 3rd Allied – TerraHub Marketplace
The ‘Christine Faulhammer’ Trophy for the most creative stand, went to Trees-SA.
THE NEXT CAPE GREEN TRADE DAY WILL BE HELD ON 19 March 2025
Events
Cape Green Forum offers a variety of events through the year, we have site visits, tours, talks, workshops & debates. In the past, site visits have included Babylonstoren, Cavalli Wine Estate, Delaire, Kirstenbosch, OZCF, Hotel Verde and the Vineyard Hotel. The tours between 1 – 4 days were Cape Peninsula, Eastern Cape, Elgin, Natal, West Coast & Gauteng. We’ve held golf days, e-workshops, discussions of deep watering, working out of South Africa, upcoming landscaping contracts, firewise planting and a couple of “show & tells”.
The Cape Green Forum usually holds a joint function with SALI (South African Landscape Institute) to end of the year, however in 2022 we held an end year celebration at Cape Garden.
These events are informal and offer members a great place to meet and discuss issues with like-minded colleagues. Members enjoy discounted entrance.
